My Students

Our students are the minds of the future. Furthermore, they come to us from many different backgrounds and needs. Our school is a Title I school with many children who receive a backpack of food for their weekend needs. They come to school eager to learn and are ready for any new challenge.

Our students are full of life and ready for a challenge.

Some students come from families that prepare them for college ready academics and some students need extra support to get them prepared and excited about future opportunities. Regardless of their families and backgrounds, I love the daily challenge to motivate and inspire them to be the achieve their absolute best!

My Project

My students need a class set of National Geographic Magazines for 4th Grade. Our students will use these materials to their science curriculum more in-depth with captivating pictures, captions and interesting facts. These magazines are sure to motivate young readers in the nonfiction realm, but also peak their interest in reading a variety of texts they would otherwise pick up in the library. They will be able to use these magazines during guided reading, small groups, independent and for project based learning. It is my hope these magazines will spark the fire needed to engage some students into thinking about how they fit into the bigger picture of our world and thinking globally. This will create excitement for reading nonfiction in our fourth grade classes!

Your donation will ultimately help students connect and build a strong interest in relevant science topics of today.

This will not only lay a strong foundation in reading, but build up interest in future science careers for our students. Who doesn't love being captured by the colorful pictures in a National Geographic Magazine?
