This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The Climate Reanalyzer, a University of Maine project from the Climate Change institute, recorded Earth’s hottest days in July of 2023. Many climate scientists unanimously agree that as average global temperatures increases, so does the spread of diseases and other health ailments.

With your generosity, funding this project can support my students’ exploration of how climate change affects asthma and allergy rates by researching the physiology of the respiratory system, which negatively impacts marginalized communities.

From the data collected using the materials donated, students will examine how respiratory health is linked to the rise in air pollution and climate change. The majority of my students live in the Bronx, where many neighborhoods are at a disadvantage–such as the South Bronx. Students can understand the inequities that exist in these communities in order to propose possible solutions.
