This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In a world of school budget cuts, my students are unable to receive adequate worksheets, homework assignments, and writing paper.

I currently work in a high needs urban school.

This is my first year teaching in the 1st grade! I have a classroom of 18 wonderful children who need additional material on a regular basis. However, with budget cuts, our school is limited in the number of copies we can make. Think of the additional support in homework assignments and reading and writing resources for parents that are neglected because of the lack of money to print! I have a classroom of English Language Learner students and students with special needs, these are the children that especially need the additional resources for furthering their education. The parents in this school community want to be as supportive and involved in their child's education as possible, and I need to make print outs of resources for their child's needs.

My Project

My classroom has a printer, but without any ink. In my classroom, we will be using the printer to create homework sheets, reading and writing resources, as well as math intervention documents. I would love to work with my students this year on their typing and technology skills, and it would be in their best interests and to continue their enthusiasm to hold a copy of their work after printing it out. A printer cannot function efficiently if it does not have any ink. These 5 cartridges will hopefully last throughout the school year, and with them, our classroom will be technologically efficient and successful! Most of all, I plan on using the ink and printing out resources to help the students individually become as successful as they can in the first grade. I don't plan on using the ink to make bulk copies, instead, to create personalized resources to further their education.

With this ink, I hope to create a technologically successful classroom and reach all the students on an individual level with personalized resources for their education and for their parents' education!
