This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Image walking into your counselor's classroom and knowing that the lessons you are about to receive are life long and character building. This is exactly how I want my students to feel when they walk into my counseling center for their weekly lessons. I want to be the light in my students day!

My school is a small, community based, low socio-economic Title 1 school that is 98% Hispanic and Spanish speaking.

Many of our students are children to undocumented parents with very little resources at home. Our teachers are very dedicated and hard working and always place the child and their academic success first, regardless and in spite of all the obstacles. Our 560+ students receive weekly counseling guidance lessons on self-esteem, respect, emotion regulation, family and friendship, career building, and college readiness and awareness. Many of the families at our school do not have access to computer or Internet services. Our students lack access to books, arts and crafts supplies, and creative play materials, especially in the area of social-emotional needs.

My Project

My students receive weekly counseling and guidance lessons that focus on positive behavior, emotions, career awareness, respect, appreciating differences, families, friendship, and college readiness. The donated materials will be used through the guidance lessons presented in the school counseling center for all our students. Students will have the ability to learn important character building skills through reading, visuals, and play activities. Any arts and crafts materials will be used when working in whole groups with the students. Any help in greatly appreciated and will be put to wonderful and needed use!

Your donations in the funding of my counseling center project will have an extreme impact on our students in various ways.

Due to their extreme economic hardships, many of our students have never been exposed to concepts presented through our counseling and guidance lessons. The requested materials will help enhance and guide the presented lessons and give our students the opportunity to work with beautiful visuals, manipulative's, and art supplies helping to cement presented concepts.
