I teach seventh grade science in a rural WV community. Over half of my 170 students are of low economic status. As a teacher, I receive approximately $200.00 per year to spend on science supplies, consumables, replacing broken equipment and buying technology.

My students are very interested in microbiology. It is one of my state objectives, but our microscopes are getting old and many do not work, so the students can't all get to use them in the time alloted.

We would love to have two new microscopes so that we can look at the organisms in our pond water, as well as prepared slides of bacteria and protists. We will also use them in our study of cells.

For this grant, I chose two microscopes that were on close out. This is an incredible deal and if you fund us, we'll be looking at "little critters" in no time!
