Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach 3rd grade in a high-need, diverse community comprised of a large number of at-risk, ELL students from low-income households......who have an INCREDIBLE thirst for knowledge and LOVE coming to our wonderful school. As teachers, we do the best we can with the resources we have (supplied personally and by our district). We reuse, recycle, reinvent, recreate and share ideas/materials with each other. Sometimes, however, innovative ideas require the help of others.

Learning in a technology-infused classroom with a tech-savvy teacher, my students will be constantly completing projects using technology. I want my 3rd grade students to have a classroom set of flash drives to be able to save their work. I am asking for 10 flash drives so that partners can have shared responsibility for one flash drive. I look forward to instilling a sense of responsibility for these flash drives in my students, as well. Saving on the computer lab laptops limits the students' access to their work. Saving on the school's network can be cumbersome and difficult for my young students. Saving becomes such a tedious process, that often the students' work is not saved.

The use of 10 class flash drives will help my students save their work in a place that's safe and can be easily accessible in our classroom. By providing my students with flash drives, the students will now be able to save their work on the flash drive and not on the school's computer/network. This will not only benefit my class this year, but future classes. At the end of the year, the flash drives will be wiped clean, and will be ready for the next class to use them.

I am appreciative of any donations given to my classroom and ensure they will be put to productive, meaningful use on behalf of my students. I’m eager to provide this opportunity for my tech-loving students.
