This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a 4th-grade teacher on a campus where the majority of the students come from low-income​ families. My students include Non-Leps (Limited English Proficiency), Bilinguals, Spanish Speakers, and some with learning disabilities, ADD, and ADHD. They live in the poorest area of their city, in one of the poorest cities in the United States. Our campus is literally at the south tip of Texas, right next to the border wall. My students face many challenges in and out of the classroom, yet they are curious and always willing to learn. They need nurturing and motivation, as well as a positive environment where they will feel excited to learn and have fun while doing so.

My Project

Help support our class with a class set of headphones. My students love to read and use online storytelling to listen to stories. They get lost in a world of imagination, but we are limited in headphones. This limits the number of students able to use the online reading programs. This obstacle keeps my students from getting the most out of their education. I would love for them to continue to feed their hunger for reading. I want to keep them motivated in their learning. Headphones would be a total game changer for our classroom. Please consider supporting my students love for reading.
