My Students

We are the premier arts and academic high school in a large city. Students have to audition to gain entrance, as well as prove themselves academically. Students are always excited to be able to work with technology.

My students are very diverse, both ethnically and economically.

This past year in my classroom, students used technology to design presentations, complete research projects, create reenactments of historical events, create political advertisements, record routines reflecting trends in dance, write and perform music and design architectural drawings for monuments.

Technology has allowed us to engage with each other in meaningful ways.

My Project

This coming school year, not only will both students and teachers be masked, but our classrooms have been fitted with some very loud air purifiers that will make it difficult for students to hear. As masks can muffle voices and create challenges during whole-group instruction/discussion, these portable microphones will make communication in the classroom easier and more accessible, particularly as voices may also be muffled by the air purifiers. Additionally, these devices will give the teachers greater freedom of movement through the classroom and still be able to project their voices for the whole class to hear.
