Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach math and science to 3rd-grade students at a Title I campus. My students love to learn new things; technology being number 1 on that list.

Most of my students are second language learners.

Ninety percent of the students receive free or reduced-price lunch.

Their parents work two and three jobs to take care of them. They want their children to have so much more than they have. Education is extremely important. By sharing technology with my students, I show them that there is a future in education.

My Project

With so much being digital, my students are on their Chromebooks all day. Most of them bought headphones from the local Dollar Store at the beginning of the year. They do not withstand the normal wear and tear very well. They have stopped working or have broken in half.

Ninety percent of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch.

Once their headphones break, they don't get more. I have exhausted all of the headphones that I have purchased. By getting 25 of these headphones, I will be able to equip my class with headphones. I picked ones with microphones because we have been making a lot of FlipGrid videos. The kids love to create these to explain what they have learned. With wearing masks, it's very hard to understand them. They take their masks off to record. These microphones will give them a voice while keeping them safe.
