My Students

Fourth Grade is a unique year. Typical fourth-grade students are active and engaged and ready to complete more complex tasks, yet are still young and enthusiastic about their learning. They are emotionally charged, social, and passionate about the world around them. My students are no different.

They are inquisitive, curious learners, approaching each new unit with excitement and vigor.

This curiosity and excitement lead to creativity which flourishes throughout the year. They use this creativity to explore learning further and present their knowledge in a way that makes sense for their learning styles.

My fourth-grade classroom is geared towards supporting different learning styles through a flexible seating model. My students this year include students with language-based disabilities, inclusion reading students, as well as several students with attention deficits. The utilization of flexible seating and technology helped them shine! However, this year our classroom space looks and feels drastically different with socially distanced desks and chairs and half the class learning from home.

My Project

Students are currently attending school in a hybrid model in my classroom. I have converted many of my lessons to contain multi media elements and videos so students are able to complete some lessons asynchronously. Students in class don't have headphones to be able to listen closely and concentrate.

Additionally, these headphones will allow students in class to be able to connect to their peers at home in breakout rooms, and to collaborate and work together.

Currently it is almost impossible to do this in a classroom without working headphones.

Student backpacks are crammed full of their daily materials. We do not have them bring in headphones everyday as they could be crushed and ruined in their already heavy bags. This project would allow them to have everything they need to meet success
