Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a Special Education teacher in a 5th Grade ICT classroom in the Bronx. I am working at a Title I school, which means my students are coming from a low socioeconomic background. My school will be participating in the hybrid model, which has students coming in a couple of times a week and learning at home the other days.

As an educator at a Title I school, I know our students depend on their teachers to provide amazing and enriching educational experiences.

As we look at beginning the 2020-2021 school year, I want to make sure my students have the items and supplies they need to help them have a successful school year! Even without knowing what school will look like, I want my students to know they are taken care of at school with all the craziness going on around us! Any resources received are greatly appreciated.

My Project

Help give my students headphones so that they can tune into learning, both at home during distance learning and in the classroom. These new headphones will create a quiet learning environment so the children can focus on their lessons and the different speakers. These headphones will be used during distance learning when students use their school computers to partake in live online video lessons and complete online activities.

Many of these students live in a noisy household with multiple siblings; having headphones will help provide a way for my students to focus and tune into our online instruction.

I work for a 100% low-income school and would rather supply the headphones at school than have the parents worry about getting a quality working pair.
