My Students

We scrambled to find all working technology; laptops, Ipads, old smartphones. We didn't have nearly enough for all of our students; most of whom do not have electronic devices at home. We packed the contents of their desks and their parents picked them up. Many had to wait for arrangements to be made with internet providers to get free service.

Some students are sharing technology with siblings.

During lessons I hear others playing games, yelling, laughing, fighting, teasing, giving answers while my student is trying to focus on my lesson. If I, the adult, am distracted by all of this how can they not be? They sign on even though they may be hungry, tired, worried, confused, frustrated, scared, and lonely. Some are sick and some are morning the loss of family members. Many of the students were out of basic school supplies before distance learning even began. My students are bored too. They do not have materials that entertain them or allow them to be creative.

My Project

With so much going on at home these days and it can create a noisy and distracting environment. The headphones will afford the children a quiet environment to assist them in remaining on task and able to focus. They need to be wireless since the students are working on a variety of devices. They also need basics like paper and pencil. I would like to use the dry erase boards and markers as their replacements.

My students need a quiet environment and basic materials to remain on task with their learning objectives.
