My Students

My students always come to music eager to learn and experience music in new ways. They try to live out the motto of making the best version of themselves each class by the wonderful character traits music can teach a child.

The students at my school come from very diverse backgrounds from very low socio-economic to the affluent, different ethnic backgrounds, family lifestyles, and learning abilities.

Despite their many differences, they always work together to make wonderful music. They understand that to make this happen, they must work together.

My Project

Students in general music learn about the different types of voices (speaking, singing, whisper, shouting) in kindergarten and develop using those different voices throughout their time in elementary school. As they move from the primary grades into the upper elementary grades, they have an opportunity to join an after school performing ensemble. In the second half of the year, they begin putting together a musical to perform in May.

Our students work very hard to be expressive with their voice.

Due the stage size at our elementary and middle schools, our students must perform in the high school gym. For elementary students, this large space creates a challenge to hear our individual performers act and sing. A wireless microphone system would give the students an opportunity to have all of their hard work be heard by the audience.
