My Students

I have been blessed with the sweetest class of 2nd graders! They are so amazing and inquisitive. We are a mixture of all different races and are about 50/50 boys and girls. A large percentage of my students qualify for free/reduced-price lunch. They are so motivated to learn and I am dedicated to giving them the best of myself! It's easy to do when they come in with huge smiles on their faces ready for a big hug. I want them to feel successful while learning. 2nd grade is a big year where so much growth occurs. I want to provide them with learning experiences that will last a lifetime.

My Project

In our classroom we LOVE using the Flipgrid app where students make videos for various different reasons. I can pose a question for them to answer, they can share ideas that they have, we can conference through videos back and forth to each other, they can read and then go back and listen to themselves, and so much more! At home they have used the app to find objects we are learning about to share with the rest of the class. They also enjoy commenting on each others' videos. Honestly, I get a good little laugh when I watch them back. It's so cool for me that I can also provide video responses to the work that they are doing, especially because they think it's so COOL!

"Mrs. Monahan, can we PLEASE do a Flipgrid today????" is something that I hear often.

The only problem is that when everyone is trying to create a video response at the same time, it's typically hard to hear them because of all the background noise and no real microphone for them to speak into. If we were to get these headphones they would each be able to do their videos where everyone could hear them clearly.

The students helped me think of this project and are so excited about it so we would be very grateful for any help that you could give. I feel like this is something that will really impact their learning and make school even more exciting! Their little personalities really shine when they get to make a video of just themselves to share with everyone else and when we pull them all up on the Smartboard they go WILD! Thanks so much for your help!
