This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever been in a class or a meeting trying to listen but there was so much outside noise you couldn't pay complete attention? This is exactly what my second graders are going through.

My second grade students come from low-income families and most of them receive free lunches.

They are second language learners that are eager to learn. They come from various backgrounds and function at many different levels. School, and mainly my classroom, is sometimes for them the only place where they receive the attention they so desperately need.

My Project

This year my second grade classroom is full to the max. Due to budget cuts and class-size increase, I now have 27 students instead of 20. You can imagine how hard it is to make all students listen and pay attention. I am requesting a wireless microphone to use in the classroom to help my students hear me better. We are experiencing extreme noise from the playground and the AC/heater unit. Plus with a full class of squiggly and chatty second graders, it's very hard for them to only focus on me. I am competing with too many distractions. With this wireless microphone my students will be able to listen to my lessons better and focus on my voice. I am sure they would love to hear themselves too. Therefore I would have them use it for many types of activities.

The wireless microphone is a necessary tool in my classroom.

There are too many distractions that interfere with my lessons. With your help my students will be able to maximize their learning experience because they will be focused in the lessons being taught. Class-size increase is affecting every classroom in our district. I want to try to make a difference in my classroom by using a wireless microphone.
