My students attend a suburban school right outside of Columbia, SC. We have a very diverse population. These students represent all different races, genders, and income populations. As a member of this community, I live among them, and am so proud to be a member of this community.
Theatre is being offered to my students for the first time in a while this upcoming school year.
Theatre is an inclusive fine arts that welcomes all students. I will be teaching a class of sixth grade, two classes of mixed seventh and eighth grade, and a modified class specifically for special needs students. Did I mention that our school hasn't had a theatre classroom in several years? Allowing students to have a freedom of expression with their bodies and voices will strengthen their independence and creative skills both in and out of the classroom.
My students are kind, creative, passionate, and dramatic. I am so excited to bring the immersive experience of theatre class to these students. Many of them are already "all in," and it's so exciting to watch!
My Project
Since drama is a new class to Irmo Middle School, I am literally starting from scratch with materials. My classroom recently had a projector installed and I need speakers.
Having the three prong folders and notebook paper will help me to set up my new students for success.We will be switching classes very soon!
I am very excited to meet these new students and I look forward to a very successful second semester with these students. Sometimes school supplies are neglected at this point in the school year and having these folders and paper ready to go for these students will go a long way towards success.
