Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Help my students find their voice. I teach 27 fantastic students in a high poverty urban school. My students are primarily second language learners who need a lot of exposure to the important forms of literacy development; Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking.

My students are not accustomed to being listened to by an audience. I try to give them many opportunities to practice their literacy skills, particularly speaking in front of groups. They tend to get very shy and can't be heard. We do a few presentations that would be greatly enhanced by a PA system.

The PA system would allow them to find their voices and be heard by all their friends and family. It will certainly enhance our Poetry Slam. They read and recite poems for an audience, and it is very difficult to hear them in a crowded room.

Your help will ensure that after weeks of work and practice, my students creativity will be heard and shared by all of those people present.
