My Students

We get tangled up in learning every day, literally! I have 6 desktops computers my students use throughout the day. We always are having trouble with old headphones not working because of wires becoming detached. The mouse on the computers constantly come unplugged, along with the keyboards.

I have 20 precious cherubs greeting me daily!

We are a Title I School, most of our students come from a poverty labeled home. We provide free breakfast to all students, and have over half of our students on free/reduced lunch. My students are excited about learning, especially when we use the computers. They continue to make progress in our class and achieve goals we set individually and as a whole. We are motivated to innovate technology in most of our lessons.

My Project

Every day we use our desktop computers. We use them during our Reading Groups as an independent center. We use them to publish our final copies of our writing. We practice our math facts on our computers in the afternoon during our Math Groups. Unfortunately, everyday there is an issue with the headphones not working. The keyboards and mice often come unplugged as well. This is a distraction, because it never fails to happen when students are in the middle of being consumed with their work on the computers. With wireless headphones, keyboards and mice, my students will focus less on the computer accessories not working and more on the computer activities which are teaching them skills they need.

If this project is funded, my students will lose the 5 minutes of trying to tell the teacher their computer isn't working properly.

They will gain 5 minutes of instruction and independent work to complete tasks they are assigned. It will make a huge difference in the atmosphere of the classroom as well.
