Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are energetic kids with a love of learning. Over 90% of our students come from low-income households. A large percentage of our families meet the definition of homeless. My parents are struggling to pay rent and get food on the table. And yet, our children still want to create, read, write, and learn!

My students worry about starting school (and staying safe); and yet, they still want to come to school to explore, learn and grow.

I am trying to meet my students' needs emotionally, as well as academically, during this pandemic. I want them to be safe and stay healthy as they work hard to learn to read, learn to use technology, and at the same time, learn language arts, math, science and social studies.

My Project

My 5-year old students are children of the 21st century. During this pandemic, my kindergartners will learn to use technology to begin and continue their education. Our school has purchased iPads for our little ones to use at home during this time. Many of my students are living with numerous siblings, multiple families or in shelters. Finding a quiet place to attend online school and learn can be very difficult.

Personal headphones with microphones will help my students to better hear the lessons and communicate with the class.

To be able to hear what is taught would be a great gift to my students. And to speak and be heard would be an even greater lesson in communication. I would love to hear my kids singing and chanting without worry of others in the room. Thank you for helping my students to hear, speak and be heard.
