Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I meet with two groups of third graders everyday. My homeroom students and another group that I see for targeted instruction. All fifty one of these eager third graders come to school everyday ready to learn like champions. However we don't always have the materials we need to get our learning done!

My students come from hard working low to middle class households.

Their parents want what is best for them, but sometimes can't always afford the greatest and best, especially in terms of technology. They send their students off to school with the hope that we would be able to provide what they can't. Unfortunately technology is constantly changing and the most up to date computers are kept in the computer lab and we have limited access due to the size of our school.

My Project

With the common core standards, students are being expected to research, reason, create, and use technology on a daily basis. However this is hard to do as our class can only go to the computer lab once every other week. With this donation of a computer my students will be able to type up and/or create power point presentations to present to others. I also hope that by having a working computer in the classroom early finishers will be able to complete their own individual research projects and that students that are lacking skills will be able to receive remedial support through the use of websites, videos, and additional digital resources.

This donation will improve daily instruction, practice, and provide students with additional technology in the classroom.

In addition the availability of the computer will help my students become more computer literate and encourage digital creativity.
