Can I Have A Ride?

My students need 2 bikes to ride when they are in the playground. We are a class of 18 and there is a long wait for every child to have their turn on our only bike.

My Students

My students are gems. I wake up every morning longing to see them and go to bed thinking about them. We start our morning by describing our feelings then discuss the schedule of the day. Their favorite time is recess. They go outside and have fun while learning social skills and problem solving.

I have 18 energetic students.

I call them My Buttercups. Every one is unique in his/ her own way. They like dinosaurs, trains, dolls, computers, music, art, singing, reading and more. Some are leaders, followers, singer, dancers, artists and most of all characters. Our school has from Prekindergarten to Grade 8 students. We share space with an autistic unit and is surrounded by 3 homeless shelters, and one juvenile detention center. Most of the parents are section 8 recipients and 95% of the students get free lunch. Our teachers are extremely dedicated to the students that they serve.

My Project

I am requesting 2 tricycles for my buttercups for their physical education. There is 1 old bike that was donated to our class 5 years ago. Being a class of 18, every student wants a ride on the tricycle during their exercise time. For some, this is the only bike they will get a chance to ride. They patiently wait their turn to ride this tricycle. With 2 additional tricycles, each student it guaranteed not only a chance to ride the tricycle, but a chance to enjoy the ride. It's important for students to have access to PE equipment. I want to introduce them to the sport of bicycling, and have them develop a love for the activity. It would no longer have to be a 3 minute ride. Since PE is the highlight of their day, they would welcome 2 additional tricycles.

The donation will help my Buttercups be better classroom citizens.

They will have a sense of accomplishment and pride. While riding, they would be getting the crucial exercise that their little bodies need for proper growth and development. It would help them concentrate and focus. Two of my Buttercups get Occupational Therapy 3 times a week. This donation will guarantee improvement on their gross motor skills.
