I teach 3rd grade to a wonderful population of students. They come to the door with personal challenges most of us will never experience. I work hard to make the school day interesting and stress free. School supplies are often a source of stress for many of our students and parents. I supply parents with a list of needed supplies but often very little, if any, are sent in. I shop summer sales to stock up on things students need. I try to keep a stocked supply closet in the room so that the need for a supply does not interrupt a student's learning.Composition books are one of those supplies that even on sale cost me a lot. Every student needs a book for spelling, writing, math, science, social studies and reading. In third grade we use books to learn how to take notes, do math problems, and write stories. I want to be able to go into my closet at anytime and give them what they need. I want my class to know that they can continue to work hard and when one book is done because there will be a new one to start. Providing us with composition books will make it possible for my students to have uninterrupted learning. Your generosity will ensure that whatever day they get to the last page of their notebook, they can look forward to getting a new one.
