Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Every day there are more and more distractions in our world taking focus away from our immediate surroundings. This is especially the case for our little ones. Rather than look up and study the changes of the leaves on a tree, our students would rather play zombie during recess. Yes, this is a real game where they pretend to bite each other, die, and then pop back up as zombies to join in on the attack.
Cameras can help children literally focus on what is right in front of them.
For this reason, our school has decided to add a Camera Unit to our Pre-K curriculum. This unit will bring back the basic study of exploring with our sense of sight, which will then open the door to also exploring our immediate surroundings with our other senses, as well.
We have confidence that this unit will bring more awareness of their surroundings to our learners, so they can develop into metacognitive thinkers, that can succeed academically, and in life, simply by being more aware and conscious of what is happening around them.
