About My Students

The students in my yearbook class spend the entire school year creating an amazing yearbook! Unfortunately we only have one camera. This project excites me because my students want to do a great job on their yearbook and would really benefit from having more than one camera.

The students in my class were trying to find ways to raise money to buy a few cameras to take pictures for their 8th grade yearbook. They all want to be able to take photographs to make the yearbook look great. I told them about DonorsChoose.org and they all wanted to submit a proposal to see if they could get some cameras. I feel so bad telling them that they can't take pictures because we don't have any other cameras or money to buy them. I'm hoping that we can get funding so that their dream can become a reality, and that they can create an amazing yearbook with great pictures.

Students in my class will develop their photography and editing skills by having access to cameras in this project. Some of my students have never even used a camera before. Having more than one camera would make this project possible. With more than one camera, more students will be able to take pictures. I will teach them how to take the photographs, edit them and upload them. Access to cameras, learning technical skills and taking memorable photographs will inspire some of my students to become future photographers, graphic designers or fine artists. Being able to take pictures and edit them in Photoshop will help them become aware of all that goes into creating a great yearbook. Students will work in teams to use the cameras and will choose the best pictures that will represent the class of 2016.

In Their Own Words

Our classes project idea is to be able to get cameras so that more of us can take pictures for the yearbook. My teacher only has one camera. We all have to beg her to use it! If we had some extra cameras, we could all have more of a chance to take pictures for our yearbook.

If we receive cameras from DonorsChoose.org, We will take the best pictures ever for our yearbook. Our photographs will show who we are and the things that we do at our school. After we graduate, the next year's 8th grade yearbook class will be able to use these cameras, too. We won't have to beg our teacher to use her camera because we will have more than one and we will each have an opportunity to use them. Our teacher will help us by showing us how to take photographs, edit them and upload them.

This project is important because We are creating a time capsule that captures who we are, our friends and where we live. We will be able to look back twenty years from now and remember all the great memories that we had.
