Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students come from a variety of diverse backgrounds. I have second-language learners, native English speakers, autistic students, struggling readers, avid readers, ADD and ADHD students, and students from economically disadvantaged families. Many of the students are in Philadelphia because they have been displaced from their homes in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria.

At my school, the motto is "Live, Dream, Achieve".

My students know that wherever they come from has little bearing on where they're going. As long as they work hard, they can have whatever life they want.

We are nearing the end of our first “normal” year after a year and a half of virtual learning and resuming our traditions to send off our 8th graders. To help with these promotion traditions, I am the chair of the yearbook club. My middle school students will use the camera and SD card to create content for our '21-'22 yearbook and capture memories for the rest of the year to take with them as they go on to their different high schools.
