Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Sensory items will allow students to direct their thoughts, feelings and attention away from their current stressors. Using items such as a mirror or journal will promote self-esteem and self-awareness in students. Including items such as a rug and floor chair will provide students with comfort in a calm setting.

Many of our students come from low-income and traumatic backgrounds and do not have access to the tools or resources needed to address their social and emotional needs.

Having access to these items, like ear muffs, will help teach students how to regulate their emotions and address any stressors, problems, or feelings they may encounter in the future.

The goal of this project is to promote the social and emotional well-being of students so they can feel confident and successful with managing their emotions in their day to day lives.
