My Project

Dear Generous Donors,

I am writing to request your support in creating a calming corner for our exceptional autism self-contained class.

Our students face unique challenges that require specialized resources to help them thrive. Your contribution will make a significant difference in their learning experience.

Weighted Blankets: These blankets provide deep pressure stimulation, which has been shown to help regulate sensory input for individuals with autism. By using a weighted blanket, our students will be able to self-regulate their emotions and focus better during lessons.

Soft Seating and Cushions: promotes relaxation and facilitate a conducive learning environment.

Sensory Toys and Fidgets: These tools offer a constructive outlet for excess energy and help to improve focus. They provide a tactile and sensory experience that aids in self-calming and concentration.

Books, hand puppets and sensorial materials for multi-sensory approaches.

Our primary goal is to create a safe and supportive space where our students can regulate their sensory experiences and emotions effectively. This calming corner will serve as a refuge, allowing them to recharge and return to class ready to engage in learning.

Additionally, we aim to foster independence and self-regulation skills in our students. By providing them with the tools they need to manage their sensory input, we empower them to take control of their learning environment.

Our students are incredibly resilient and possess unique talents and perspectives. Each one brings a special light to our classroom. Despite facing challenges associated with autism, they demonstrate incredible determination and a thirst for knowledge. They have an innate ability to see the world in a way that inspires creativity and innovation. With the right resources, our students have the potential to achieve remarkable things.
