My Project

My school is an elementary school filled with curious, energetic, creative, and thoughtful students. A major goal for this year is to create calm corners in every classroom. Your donations will actually allow us to assemble a calming basket for each class. Each basket will contain a variety of sensory tools (stress balls, water beads, sensory bottles as well as a variety of fidgets, the baskets will also have stuffed animals and sandtimers . The purpose of this is to empower students and teach them how to use these tools in the basket independently. We will begin by teaching students about feelings and how to identify what they are feeling. When students are feeling a big feeling such as sad, stressed or anger we want to teach them how to move through the feeling or reduce the size of the feeling to feel more calm. Our calming baskets will be full of tools/ materials that students will. use when they need a break and want to feel more relaxed and calm and able to engage more in class.
