My Project

Our high school is incorporating our new Positive Behavioral Incentive Support and Restorative Practices policy. We are excited to include a calm area to help de-escalate students in a safe space. Having a space designed to defuse tension and be able to participate in conflict resolution safety is our top priority.

Having a calm area would allow our students a safe space to de-escalate.

Providing these highly needed supplies would benefit our students greatly, as our school budget is limited. Providing nice rugs, calming seating, colorful wall decor, video games, and sound machines will all have a positive impact on making students feel safe. Having a space filled with furniture that is out of the normal classroom would provide an area they know they have to go to other than the dean's office or being sent to the counseling office and this will show students that they are valued and are cared for.
