My Project

As a high school counselor in Philly, many of my students are stressed out or hungry when they come to school. My students are special because they come from all over the city to attend our public farm high school. Traveling makes you hungry; some travel 1.5 hours each morning just to get here! Having an office chock full of quick snacks can help them focus and calm down so they can go to class. Some of my students are also dealing with stressful and traumatic situations outside of school, and it is hard to focus on academics when triggers are everywhere. My office is a calm place where they can sit on a bean bag, play a puzzle, color a mandala, or have a snack for a minute to decompress and refocus.
