Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a Psychiatric Social Worker (PSW) at LAUSD and have been assigned to a school that has had this position vacant before I came. I would love to show the students and school community all that my support has to offer. My job is to support students with their social-emotional well-being and promote mental health.

I would love to create a new and inviting calming corner for the students, as the school does not currently have one.

Whether that be a place to take a break or speak about their feelings, my goal is for this calming corner to support student's mental health and show them that talking about their feelings is encouraged! Each of the items listed will help me to create a safe and positive space, as well as offer tools for student to practice good mental health habits.

The school community and students are already eager to embrace and practice good mental health. I would love to help give my students a new space to support and promote their overall well-being.
