Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Many of our students present with different social-emotional-related issues that make it difficult for them to regulate their emotions and behavior, which can prove challenging when confronted with stressful moments.

We want to build a Zen Zone, also known as a calming corner so that students have a safe, non-judgmental space with the necessary tools to learn self-regulation.

Providing the necessary tools can help students validate their feelings, self-regulate their emotions, and understand how to relax during stressful times. We're hoping our Zen Zone can also help students feel secure and be a place they feel safe. Students can use a variety of tools, like sensory toys and stress balls, feelings charts, to regain control of their emotions.
