My Project

Sometimes we all just need a break. These tools will be placed in a calm corner in the classroom that will allow students to take time to self-regulate when feeling stressed or overwhelmed at school. When students get too stressed out, my only option in my class right now is to have them sit in the reading corner or just put their heads down.

A calming corner is a space where students can deal with negative emotions that can impact learning.

With these supplies–which include a weighted stuffed animal, calm down strategies poster, and sensory toys–students will be able to take a break and then return to learning

This project is much needed in the classroom. It allows students to learn about their emotions and stress from being in the classroom. I want to provide my students with a safe place that they can go to whenever their emotions are heightened or feeling stressed.
