This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a school psychologist for LAUSD. I provide counseling for children from Pre-K through 5th grades, I plan to use my supplies for the calming corner to provide a safe and nurturing environment to help students decompress and release any stressors that they encounter in their daily lives.

I am often asked by the administration to speak with a student who may be having a melt-down due to school phobia, bullying, death in the family or general anxiety.

A calming corner, supplied with coping tools would be very helpful in the above scenarios to help students open up about what is bothering them. I appreciate the opportunity to apply for this project to help facilitate these needs.
