Help me give my students a canopy, beanbag, soft pillows, and other items if they begin to struggle with the transition of returning to the classroom setting.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Being in a special education teacher in the inner-city, my students struggle with everyday life. All my students have a story and deal with issues kids shouldn't have to deal with. Still, they come to school and try their best, which is what makes my students so special.
The 2020-2021 school year is going to be the most challenging year for our students with different schedules, social distancing, and a lack of appropriate materials for them.
We want to give all the students the opportunity to be able to succeed no matter this pandemic and have the materials and resources needed to do so.
My Project
During this pandemic, students were taken out of their normalized routines and have to adjust to being in quarantine for the remainder of the school year and their entire summer. Adjusting back to the classroom is going to be the hardest task for students, teachers, and parents.
This project will give students the opportunity to have a special place in the classroom where they can go to relax and take a minute to adjust to being back in the classroom; this calming corner will include sensory objects, flexible seating, books on social-emotional learning, and many more.
