My Project

I am a social worker in a continuing education high school. We have a small campus and student body and our resources are limited. Our student's work hard to get to school and complete course work to graduate. Much of their learning is self motivated. Although we are an alternative to comprehensive schools, our students deserve the same resources and support.

We only have three separate classrooms and my goal with these items is to create three mini calming spaces for each room.

Each room would have a chair and a "calming kit" that students could use when needed. Often our students get distracted, overwhelmed, and unfocused. With these calming areas, we could offer an alternative way to refocus, re-center, and re-commit to learning.

I would also like to utilize the rocks and rock paint as an activity for students to help decorate our green space.
