Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our students come from different upbringings. Their home, community, and school environment affect them in school with anxiety, depression, self-harming, and suicide ideation. Unfortunately, the skills they have to cope with are maladaptive.

The purpose of this calming area is for provide students who feel emotionally dysregulated to have a place they can feel safe and welcomed.

Please help us support students knowing they are not alone and provide them with a safe space. The goal is for them to learn healthy coping skills when feeling distressed. The items will assist students in being able to sit comfortably in chairs, cushions, rugs, and yoga mats. At the same time, they practice healthy coping skills such as painting, coloring, crocheting, and tactile sensory. This area will be welcoming for all when doing individual and group work. This area will be therapeutic for all when meeting with the students.
