Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I want to create a calming area at my elementary school where my students can learn good mental health practices and have a space where they are allowed to share their vulnerability and take a break.

It is important that children at an early age learn and begin to practice coping skills that they can carry with them throughout their development.

I plan to create this new calming area to teach my students at a young age what it means to have a good mental health.

The items funded will help bring the calming area to life and benefit their social-emotional growth journey in elementary education! The items like sensory balls and stress toys will help my students have real, tangible items to help them de-stress. The emotional plushies and sets will make a difference in their emotional identification and help support their understanding in learning what they are feeling so they can later describe it.
