This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I completely adore my students! I feel that a calming area will not only allow them to have a safe and comfortable space to thrive but will also give them an area to practice SEL (social emotional learning ) activities that we learn in the classroom on a daily basis.

After such a stressful pandemic, I feel that young students have not learned proper coping strategies for dealing with their thoughts and emotions.

Having a calming area will give them a safe space to quiet their thoughts and regulate their emotions if needed.
