Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I hope to create a safe space where students can take breaks as needed, acknowledge their emotions, and make use of strategies and soothing materials to calm themselves so learning can continue. My hope is that all students will be able to identify one safe place on campus. This space will be inclusive of all and contain different tools that students may favor. Ultimately, this space will have a rug, a beanbag and saucer chair, pillows, and sensory items that will be used to help students de-escalate when they are having a difficult time regulating their emotions in order to attend school and be successful.
