My Project

My students this year are facing multiple mental health challenges. We have been working hard all year on building skills to de-escalate heightened emotions and behaviors.

A Calming Area would be a beneficial area to our classroom to assist self-management that helps students de-escalate when they are having a hard time.

Some items that assist with these struggles are fidget toys, sensory stickers, mirrors to review self reflection, calming coloring books, breathing boards, and emotional books teaching how to self regulate these difficult emotions that range from anger to anxiety.
