Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In my 4th grade class of 27, students are beginning to learn a lot about themselves and process emotions that they may have never felt before. My students work hard daily to achieve their goals, and sometimes, it can cause them the stress and anxiety that any other student would normally face. They always look forward to coming to class to do activities and games that can allow them to feel happy and relieve their stressor that may come from school or from home as well.

With that being said, a calm corner would be a safe and effective addition to our classroom.

The calm corner will provide them with not only the space, but the privacy, to regulate their emotions without feeling embarrassed. The items I selected are to help create that privacy and the comfort. I carefully selected book and book sets that align most with the emotions that I see regularly faced in the classroom. Students will be able to read about how to identify and handle these target emotions so that they may be able to return back to the classroom environment ready to learn!
