Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students work hard to reach their individual goals on a daily basis! They have built a sense of community within our class and have welcomed friends from their general classroom into our calm area creating a community of inclusion. Our calming area has served as a break area for students who need breaks in between tasks, it has served as a motivator to help keep students engaged knowing a preferred activity will come up after that tough task, and it has served as a safe space to de-escalate tough emotions. My students know that this area is a safe zone for them and a welcoming area for all. They have been able to problem-solve in this area, create fun memories and feel safe and welcomed. As I have gotten to know my students, I learned more about their needs and tools that can help strengthen our area. Thank you for your support as my students continue to grow!
