My Project

A big part of social-emotional learning is learning how to calm down and having a space to go to when we need to de-escalate. My students are learning about feelings-how to identify different emotions, comfortable vs uncomfortable feelings, how to self-regulate and manage their feelings.

Having a calming area in the classroom with the supplies that make it welcoming and effective will reinforce and encourage students to apply the calming strategies taught.

With a well-equipped and appealing calming area, students will have a constant and safe haven they can go to when they need to.
