My Project

Often throughout the school day my second and third grade special needs students become overwhelmed, anxious, frustrated, sad, tired or need to recover from a seizure. They need a calm, safe and quiet place in the classroom to retreat to and de-escalate and regroup.

I would like to create a calming area equipped with multiple tools such as headphones to listen to music, fidget toys, pillows to hug, timers, lava lamps, and calming art.

The calming area will give them the tools to regroup and then re-engage in the academic day.
