My Project

Help me create a calming area in my social studies classroom. At our continuation high school, students often spend lunch time in their classrooms. Students have identified a safe adult on campus with the Psychiatric Social Worker and often rely on the safe adult's classroom when they need to de-compress, de-escalate, or when they're simply having a bad day. One of my LED lights broke and students have told me that having colorful lights calm them down. One mindful tool I would like to incorporate with my students is making of origami, as it enhances being present and concentration. Having this corner would mean that my students not only have an area to decompress, they also have the ability to practice origami when overwhelmed. The couches will serve as an area where students can decompress and the floor lamp will set a relaxing calming mood when students walk into my class.
