Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I often refer to our classroom as our home and remind the students that we are like a family. I love my classroom family and am grateful for every day I have with them. This family is in need of more tools to help them learn invaluable coping skills to work through difficult emotions and to help them feel more at home with various seating, comfort, and movement options.

There is not a one-size-fits-all solution to helping students master their emotions and self-regulation.

With the tools in this project, students will be better able to learn how to help themselves: recognize emotions, choose a comfortable seating arrangement or calming privacy area, take time to process or de-escalate strong feelings, and self-soothe so that they will get their needs met in the classroom, and re-join the group when ready.
