Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My goal as Pupil Services & Attendance (PSA) Counselor is to make sure our students are enrolled, engaged, attending, and are on track to graduate! I am creating a new Attendance Center for our school community.

By donating to our Attendance Center, you will not only help create accessibility, connection, and support the implementation of PSA services, and you will ultimately help facilitate re-engagement and link to our school community.

This newly developed Attendance Center will be a physical space where I can connect and service our students and families.

In this space, I will meet with students upon returning to school after having excessive absences and provide re-engagement resources. The furniture, including the sofa, bean bag chair, and pillows will create an inviting space for students where they can utilize the coping skills resources. Students will be invited to use this space when they are feeling anxious or worried about returning to school or being in social situations. The interactive games will be used to facilitate social skills groups, and rapport building and be accessible to all students. The lava lamp, essential oil, and air diffuser will create a calming space inviting senses of sight and smell. The visual decorations will present messages of positive affirmations in our center.
