My Project

My project is the creation of a calming area for my students. Many of my students are facing some form of anxiety especially after the pandemic. They are having a hard time calming themselves down or finding a place that they can go to that will help them getting back to feeling ok. I want to provide a place in the classroom that they have so they aren't running out of the room or having pained outbursts in the classroom. They can go to this area and draw, color, read, rest and regroup. Students will have posters to help them calm down, coloring crayons and colored pencils so they can draw and color, tables and surf cushions to sit on and a beanbag chair for the flexible seating. They will have a couch, and books to read that teach them to be mindful as well as cards for mindfulness and yoga poses cards to relax.
