My Project

Our students are all uniquely wonderful and amazing! However, it has been tough (and tougher for some) to get over the pandemic years. The pandemic has gravely affected their learning as well as their socio-emotional well-being.

We hope that these tools and resources can help our students learn coping skills, and provide safe, calming and organized area that will help students build their skills by engaging in mindful activities like journaling, drawing, focusing, breathing, and learning de-escalating strategies and skills.

Moreover, research has shown that fidget toy that "kids can control or direct with their movements, especially when stressed or anxious, can also improve focus and concentration. Movement and sensory input are essential for learning and carrying out tasks since they involve both the right and left hemispheres of the brain."

In addition, a study "focusing on showing the impact of fidget toys concluded that students given stress balls had improved scholastic achievement, especially students with ADHD."

Our students mostly come from economically disadvantaged, migrant families and will be the first in their family to go to college. Despite their modest backgrounds, most of our students continue on to become successful, productive individuals that contribute greatly to our society.
